뉴져지에서 바라본 뉴욕 야경

몇일전 뉴욕으로 가족과 함께 휴가를 보내고 돌아왔습니다.
볼것 많기는 뉴욕의 맨하탄이 최고이긴 하지만... 사람 살기에는 아틀란타만 못한 것 같아요. 그새 남부에 길들여졌나?

    야경 멋지네요. 왠지 강너머에 있는 쉐라톤호텔에서 찍으신 듯한 풍경입니다. 사는데는 역시 물가가 싼 남부가 좋긴하지요. 작년에 레녹스몰에 갔다가 본 잡지에 "알리시아 키스"라는 유명여가수가 한 말이 생각나는군요. "아틀란타는 도시이긴 하지만 동시에 작은 타운의 느낌을 간직하고 있어서 더우 매력적인 도시다"라는.. 그런데 전 제가 살던 플로리다가 더 그립습니다. 왜냐면, 거긴 물가도 싸지만, state tax도 없거든요. 특히 식자재에는 세일즈텍스도 안붙어요. 워메 좋은거. 아틀란타와서 거품물었던것이 100불이 넘는 번호판 갱신비. 거기다가 매년 해야하는 state tax 보고. 쩝. 그래도 동부나 서부의 큰도시들에 비하면 정말 물가싸고 살기좋지요.
    Lenox mall 이 미국 유명 쇼핑몰 랭킹5위안에 든다는 얘기도 있습디다요. 믿거나 말거나지만....
